Faith: Believing the Impossible
Faith. It's a small word. It's one I never gave much thought until I found myself in situations where my own power and control couldn't get me through. Sometimes we don't discover the power of faith until we've been forced to examine and embrace it.
Faith isn't logical. When your back is against the wall, it's believing and embracing the impossible.
On my desk is a little bag of mustard seeds. I received it at a business conference a few years ago. A sticker adhered to the bag shares Matthew 17:20. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Here's where we misstep. You aren't supposed to move the mountains. No. That doesn't happen through your power. You're supposed to believe they will be moved, ask that they be moved, and trust that God will move them for you. He'll line up the right people or series of events. He'll guide your moves. You aren't doing anything through your own power. It's all through God's.
If you're dealing with something that seems impossible or if you keep coming up against a wall, surrender it and have faith. It might not work out how you want it to work out, but with God, it will work out for the highest good. Surrendering is a daily act. Faith is sometimes minute to minute.
How do you know you have faith? It's when you feel joy in the midst of turmoil. It's when you feel and act as if the miracle has already happened. In your joy, express gratitude for the miracle. You will receive guidance and unexpected coincidences and things that can only be described as miracles.
Have faith. Believe in miracles. Give God the upper hand. He's waiting for you to hand over control.
